NoNoWriMo

I'm not doing NaNoWriMo this year.

No Novel Writing Month for me.
I'm breaking a six-year streak, and I feel horrible about it.

I simply don't have time to plot and write an entirely new novel right now.
But I won't be forsaking writing all together... No. I may not be writing a new project, but I am working on an old one. One of my goals this month is to work on my Unnamed Fantasy Novel (you know, that one I'm planning to publish next summer that STILL DOES NOT HAVE A NAME) every day for one hour (or one chapter... whichever happens first). I'm planning on cutting a lot of unnecessary content, especially at the beginning of the novel. Why yes, I am terrified. The beginning of this story has stayed mostly unchanged since the first draft. I've been so attached to it that I haven't been able to cut out much. Do you guys ever suffer from that problem?
I'll let you know how the amputation goes.

Good luck to everyone who is participating in NaNoWriMo this year! I know you can do it. Tell me about your project in the comments!

  2. Yay for the Unamed Novel. I think the beginning was the strongest part, so don't feel too bad about not cutting it.

On my edits for my upcoming novel I did not cut much either. In fact I ended up adding more than I cut. With my scifi series, the manuscripts got significantly shorter with each draft. In the end, each project is its own animal. You have to go with where the story takes you.

    1. Thank you. I love the beginning so much, but I do think it needs to be cut down a little bit... I'm keeping the best bits, though. :)
Very true. It's so hard to go with the story when you have different ideas than the story, though. But it always gets its way in the end.

  3. That's great that you know what your limit is and don't overwhelm yourself with writing! Some of us have yet to learn...*aka ME* XD

    1. The thing is, I wish I could do NaNoWriMo so badly! If I didn't have so many exams and projects due this month, I would totally do it, even though my writing would be horrible (like last year, lol). I'm glad I decided against it, though. As it turns out, I don't even have time enough to get my one hour of editing in!
