This semester has been a walk in the cold wind of a Minnesota winter, when you simultaneously enjoy God's beautiful creation and hate your life because your face has frozen.
In August, I moved into a dorm-apartment, fully furnished with plumbing and moisture problems, a couch with a "chastity bar" in between each cushion, and a full kitchen...
In September, the English Department had a picnic...
In October, some friends and I went to an opera showcase in the rain...

and to an apple orchard in the sun...
In November, the English Department had an English Tea...

and I got to meet Maggie Stiefvater...
In December, we went on an overnight trip to Duluth...
and the English Department had a Gatsby-themed Christmas party!
The main part of my days, however, was spent balancing seventeen credits of classes, one credit of internship, a job as a TA, cooking, cleaning, health, and mental health. I wasn't able to balance these things as well as I'd hoped, so this Winter Break I want to come up with a plan to be a better human in the spring. I learned several things about myself this school year, but I want to save that for my next post.
This post is just to catch you up on the last few months of my life, and to let you know that I am back in the blogging world!
Also...
Are you excited for Christmas? What are you doing for the holidays? Let me know in the comments! I want to hear from you all!
My wife and I are spending Christmas & New Years with our daughter! SWEET!
ReplyDeleteYay! Glad to be back with you. :D
DeleteHey, neighbor!!! (waves from Wisconsin) I missed your posts! Glad to see that you seem to have had a good and full semester. Sorry to hear that balancing things has been a bit rough... :( but I think everyone deals with that in college.
ReplyDeleteHello! *waves back* Thank you, and you're right. Balancing is hard in school... and probably out of school, too! That's why I want to develop good habits now.
DeleteHip hip you are back!
ReplyDeleteHuzzah!
DeleteDear Frozen Face,
ReplyDeleteI have missed your updates! This is great! Glad that you have had all of these wonderful, yet not easy, experiences, and that you are working to have balance. Can't wait to see you!
Sincerely - not as frozen face
Hee hee, I can't wait to see you guys, too! And now we both have frozen faces. :)
DeleteWow, looks like a lot of fun stuff! We went to Duluth on our honeymoon, but I bet it was amazing all decorated for Christmas! You didn't happen to go to a rotating restaurant there, did you? This was my first christmas I wasn't with my family, but I get to see them for New Years! But Shawn and I had a good Christmas, despite having colds.
ReplyDeleteOh, that sounds beautiful! Duluth is a great place to go on honeymoon. :) We didn't go to a rotating restaurant! Which one is that? We did go to Betty's Pies, which is quite famous, as I am led to believe.
DeleteI'm glad you and Shawn had a good Christmas. I hope you two feel better. Colds are no fun.
It was called J J Astor on top of the Radisson hotel. It was kinda spendy, but the view is really cool
ReplyDeleteThat does sound cool. I'll have to look it up!
DeleteAwesoooooome!! You got to meet Maggie Steifvater!! So fun! :D
ReplyDeleteYes!! She talked to the audience for an hour before signing books, and she was so entertaining!
DeleteLove hearing about your college life and extra curricular activities. The holidays here were simple and quiet. It snowed Christmas Eve which is practically unheard of in Victoria. (...looks like auntie Harriette photobombed the Maggie S book signing lol)
ReplyDeleteIt's so cool that the West Coast areas got a white Christmas this year :) Our holidays were pretty low key, too. (Haha, that lady looked EXACTLY like Auntie Harriette! I wanted to tell her that, but I thought that would be a little strange.)
